i don't care about what you have to say
by drew sagan inthis little rant is pointed towards a particular somebody who has found it necessary to blanket all of the jwd users here with generic solicitations for their website and newsletter.
usually i let this kind of stuff go but this particular individual imo is quite crass in their style and delivery in supposedly 'exposing' the watchtower.
as such i want to state on the record that i don't care about what you have to say, your methods are stupid.

Sounds a bit far fetched. NK may have not been an outstanding leader but I honestly don't believe he was that stupid

Satan sends a thank you to all JW's.
by Rooster inthank you, for years of membership in his cult/sect.. thank you, for all the hours you have spent trying to recruit new members for his cult.. thank you, for gulping down all the changing in the teachings identified as "new light".. thank you, for selling your souls to his organization.
.
thank you, for believing his name isnt jehovah!.

If Satan's purpose is to draw people away from God, we can say that he has succeeded fairly well with the WTS if we consider how many, being put off by the organization, leave the JW religion, and not only do they leave that religion but they don't want to hear about any religion any longer. Reminds me of Jesus' words in Mat. 23 : 13 : "... you shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men ; for you yourself you do not go in, neither do you permit those on their way in to go in."

When do folks who study with a JW generally start to tell thier friends?
by insearchoftruth inmy wife is again studying with a jw sister, and earlier this week the sister was telling her about how wonderful it is to witness for jehovah.
well since i have known my wife, she has never spoken positively about the jws to anyone.
when can i expect her to be told that she should be sharing this with others.

When in London, where I was associating, say part time, with JWs, I mentioned to the people whom I was with in a pub, after a horse riding class, that I was frequenting JWs, thinking that we would engage in a conversation on the subject. The teacher stared at me and just said : I'd rather be a heavy drinker than a JW. I bate a prudent retreat...

Romans 11 : 26 - all Israel will be saved - Which one, and When ?
by aligot ripounsous inthe question of readers article in june jws only wt magazine (the one which is studied in august) deals with romans 11 : 26 where paul writes that "all israel will be saved".
as we know, if ct russell believed that this statement was to be understood literally and he expected the jews to convert to christianity as a sign of christ's return, the current position of the wts, as explained in this qfr article, is that "spiritual" israel and not fleshly israel is what it is about in rom.
chapter 11 and christ's return will be marked by the completion of the whole number of the 144 000 anointed.

The question of readers article in June JWs only WT magazine (the one which is studied in August) deals with Romans 11 : 26 where Paul writes that "all Israel will be saved".
Now, during that boring WT study about authority, I set out on reading that whole chapter 11 and it seems to me that what Paul meant was that Jehovah's undeserved kindness would be extended to the fleshly jews, as a people and not as individuals, on account of God's promise to Abraham, albeit their having rejected Christ. Verse 12 looks quite explicit : "Now, if their false step [having put Jesus to death] means riches to the world [covenant extended to gentiles], and their decrease means riches to people of the nations, how much more will the full number of them mean it !" and verse 32 : " For God has shut them all up together in desobedience, that he might show all of them mercy".
That example, IMO, is quite telling of how the WTS is twisting the scriptures and quotes bits of them out of context, so as to make them fit with what this organization has decided them to mean, against scriptural evidence. Now, if literal Israel has to convert before Christ's return, we're not on the eve of the latter as yet...

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 08-24-08 WT Study (AUTHORITY)
by blondie inrank and file.
12:2) far from being independent, they are "slaves of corruption," to use the words of the christian apostle peter.
is everything non-jws do from satan?.

Thanks, Blondie,
It has already been pointed out on here a couple of times but it is worth being repeated, it appears that since the JWs only version of the WT magazine has been introduced, the only message which is carried in these "study" articles is : keep ranks serried, we want to see one head in the row.

Is there any one thing you DID like about the witnesses?
by dobbie inok so obviously there's more bad than good(slight understatement i know!
) but is there anything you did enjoy about the religion?
just wondering cos i asked myself that question and the only thing i can think of (and it seems a bit materialistic to me lol) is that i could dress up in nice clothes and see men in suits!

It could well be that I owe them to be alive today : I stopped smoking, 30 years ago, after they showed me that scripture about presenting to Jehovah our bodies as undefiled sacrifices. Quite efficient, I stopped overnight, not being baptized yet.
Although I have largely faded from the JWs, I retain the fundamentals of their creed : unique God, no immortal soul nor hell, earthly hope, 2 classes (yes, why not). As for the rest of it, Jehovah knows better than we do, He will sort things out.

About ten years ago, as a nurse, my wife worked for a charity (l'Envol, taking off) which was financed by Paul Newman, located in a chateau about 30 miles off Paris, in the countryside. In that chateau, low social condition children affected by incurable illnesses were given an opportunity to spend a free (fortnight, I think) holiday. Kudos, Paul.
